Academic Activities And Examinations Are Suspended In Sindh Universities


All academic activities and examinations have been suspended and postponed by managements of all government universities in Sindh in response to Sindh Government interference in the matters of universities. On Sunday, 25th May 2014, Sindh Government published an advertisement for the appointment of Karachi University Registrar, Finance Adviser and Controller examination. After its publishing, officials from all Sindh universities announced to protest against it and to suspend
all academic and examination activities for an undefined period of time.

Today is the second day of protest.

All teachers and professors associations are also supporting this protest and they are agreed on the point to remain the status of universities separated from government schools and colleges. That is why they have postponed all activities for undefined period of time.

Universities officials are demanding from Sindh Government to withdraw their decision of interfering in universities structural issues. They have also announced to continue their strike unless Government withdraw the decisions that were published in advertisements.

Due to this protest, the academic activities were suspended in all government universities in Sindh including Karachi University, NED university, Dawood University, Quaid-e-Awam University, Mehran University, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Scienced Jamshoro etc. The semester examinations of Karachi university were also postponed due to this protest.
